My name is Andrea Danderfer. I am currently a pre-service teacher in my last year of education at the University of Regina. I can’t believe this is my last year of education, I feel like I just started. I majored in Health and minored in Physical Education. I chose Health because I find it so interesting. Health encompasses so many different things and can shape the way we make decisions. I feel it is the most important subject students can take. Your health is the most important thing you have. If your don’t live a healthy well balanced lifestyle you may not able to pursue the things you love to do. I chose Physical Education because it is so closely linked with Health. Physical Education allows students to learn the necessary skills to be physically active the rest of their lives. It seems that as soon as Physical Education is not mandatory the majority students don’t take it. I want to revive the joy of being physically active no matter what it is. I also want to point out that I believe all the other subjects are equally important for students to receive a well-rounded education.
I am originally from Battleford, Saskatchewan and moved to Regina, Saskatchewan to attend University. I am the oldest and have two younger sisters. With numerous lakes around Battleford my family is big into camping and we spend a lot of time up at the lake during the summer. My family is also into skiing/snowboarding. I spent a lot of my free time at Table Mountain Regional Park while I was growing up.
I am really excited to see what the future holds. I hope to be teaching in a small town somewhere in Saskatchewan in the Fall.
